Rainy Day Ramblings

At the encouragement  of my son, I decided that a rainy day in June would be the perfect time to update my blog. In doing so, I found that my previous blog "Reflections of a Domestic Goddess", was created using a different Google account and I can't figure out how to get it transferred to my current Google account, so I had to create a new blog.  Ugh. Hopefully I will use this more often, do more blog updates, post more interesting stuff, and not have a Google account issue again!

So, welcome to the new and improved Ramblings of a Domestic Goddess! I hope to use this blog to post funny, touching, encouraging moments that happen in my day to day life as a wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend.  As well as recipes and photos and links regarding our new way of life - Paleo.

I ended last week by finally uncovering our patio furniture and dusting it all off, and wiping it down, and hosing off the entire patio - this took me 1 1/2 hours in 90+F temperatures.   I thoroughly enjoyed spending time out back each night of the weekend.  Reading, sipping wine, eating dinner with my family, and just relaxing, enjoying the beautiful sunshine and California weather.

Today I woke up to rain. The cushions on the couches are now soaked and it will take a couple of days for them to dry out enough for me to be able to lounge on them, sip some wine, or read. Bummer. This has put a damper on my mood. I'm happy to see that the weather forecast shows sunshine for the remainder of the week! I'll get back out there soon enough.

I saw my doctor last week, and he informed me that I had lost 11 lbs. since last May! I attribute this mostly to my husband, who did massive amounts of research and encouraged and convinced me that the Paleo lifestyle was the way to go if we wanted to live long, healthy lives.  We began our "adventure" after dropping our son off at college at the middle of September, 2011. Our daughter had already been away at college, so we were now "empty nesters", and it was the perfect time to clean out cupboards and make a life change. We have been eating Paleo for almost nine months now, and I can definitely say this it has been a very positive change in our lives.  My blood test results in November were amazingly good, and both of our energy levels are up, and digestion is better than in the past.  We also started working out again twice a week with our personal trainer in December, and the results have been fantastic.  Muscle memory is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

So, I'll share a recipe that I made last week that was phenomenal! I found it through Pinterest, on paleOMG 's blog.  Please make good use of your time and check out her blog! She has very good photos and awesome recipes to share, and her humor is off the charts funny! http://paleomg.com/     The recipe I made was Brazilian Curry Chicken, and it is a fantastic recipe!  http://paleomg.com/leftovers-brazilian-curry-chicken/    My photo doesn't do it justice. Adding the slices of avocado is a definite plus.  I served it over cauliflower "rice", along with sautéed green beans. A few nights later, we had it as leftovers, and I remembered to add the sliced avocado. Yummy!

I'll do my best to get on here more often and give some recipes, updates on life, etc.  I'll try to throw in a funny story now and then, and pictures of food, lots of food!

Cheers to healthy eating, and happy lives!
